    Superquadrics for segmentation and modeling range data

    We present a novel approach to reliable and efficient recovery of part-descriptions in terms of superquadric models from range data. We show that superquadrics can directly be recovered from unsegmented data, thus avoiding any presegmentation steps (e.g., in terms of surfaces). The approach is based on the recover-andselect paradigm. We present several experiments on real and synthetic range images, where we demonstrate the stability of the results with respect to viewpoint and noise

    We designed hardware and software for simple multichannel RC Servo Controller for smartphones and tablets running Android OS. The design is based on audio subsystem of a smartphone, pulse position modulation, and hardware decoding of the modulated audio signal. It also leverages the touch screen as GUI. The cost of the decoding hardware is in the range of few Euros and can be simply made using basic electronics tools

    Conceptual Model of Business Value of Business Intelligence Systems

    With advances in the business intelligence area, there is an increasing interest for the introduction of business intelligence systems into organizations. Although the opinion about business intelligence and its creation of business value is generally accepted, economic justification of investments into business intelligence systems is not always clear. Measuring the business value of business intelligence in practice is often not carried out due to the lack of measurement methods and resources. Even though the perceived benefits from business intelligence systems, in terms of better information quality or achievement of information quality improvement goals, are far from being neglected, these are only indirect business benefits or the business value of such systems. The true business value of business intelligence systems hides in improved business processes and thus in improved business performance. The aim of the paper is to propose a conceptual model to assess business value of business intelligence systems that was developed on extensive literature review, in-depth interviews, and case study analysis for researching business intelligence systemsā€™ absorbability capabilities or key factors facilitating usage of quality information provided by such systems respectively

    A computer vision based system for a rehabilitation of a human hand

    Paper presents a rehabilitation systemfor patientswho suffer fromarmor wrist injury or similar. The idea of the rehabilitation using computer and additional hardware is not new, but our solution differs significantly. We tried to make it easily accessible and thus started with a limitation that only a personal computer and one standardweb camera is required. Patient holds a simple object, cuboid, and moves it around. Camera records hismovement while the software in real-time calculates position of the object in 3D space on the basis of color information and cuboid model. Object is then placed in the virtual 3D space, where another similar object is already present. The patientā€™s task is to move the real object in the position, which matches the position of the virtual object.Doing so the patient trains specific movements that speed up the recovery. Evaluation of the system shows that presented solution is suitable in cases where accuracy is not very critical and smaller 3D reconstruction deviations do not thwart the process of rehabilitation

    We developed a multimedia dictionary of the Slovenian Sign Language (SSL) which consists of words, illustrations and video clips. We describe the structure of the dictionary and give examples of its user interface. Based on our sign language dictionary, we developed a method of synthesizing the sign language by intelligent joining of video clips, which makes possible a translation of written texts or, in connection with a speech recognition system, of spoken words to the sign language
